What Is The Civil Politics Category?
The Civil Politics section of Pearland.com is an experimental, private,
AI-moderated chat, separate from the main "General Chat" forum,
designed to be a space to discuss politics in a civil, respectful, thoughtful way.
Access to the Civil Politics section is limited, and not everyone can
join. Participants must be prepared to make their arguments on substance,
avoid character attacks, and phrase their arguments in a way that is
respectful to others. The goal is to have a place where people can
discuss politics without the usual vitriol and name calling that
often accompanies political discussions on the internet.
Rules For Posting
-
You are expected to be civil and respectful to other members.
-
All messages will be run through the AI-bot to check for civility before
being posted. Just because the AI-bot approves your post does not necessarily
mean that your post is civil. If a moderator sees a post that is uncivil,
they may remove it, even if the AI-bot approved it.
-
Purposely trying to game the AI-bot by posting uncivil messages that
pass the filter may get your account banned.
-
Images: Meme-type images are not allowed in the Civil Politics section.
Any other images posted must be uncontroversial, not inflammatory, and not
include content that would otherwise be blocked by the AI-bot.
-
Links: Links must include the article title and the first paragraph
or two of the text, so that the AI-bot can check it. Links to inflammatory
or uncivil content are not allowed.
-
Sometimes the AI-bot gets it wrong! AI in its current state is not perfect.
Try rewording your argument and resubmitting it if your post is rejected.
Is The AI Bot Biased?
The AI bot is designed to be as neutral as possible. It is not perfect, and
it may make mistakes. If you feel that the AI bot is biased, please let us know
and we'll see if there's anything we can do to improve it.
For transparency, here are the guidelines sent to the AI-bot to check for civility as of 11/18/2024:
