Walgreens are like gas stations and Starbucks ..one on every corner. I'm sure there still will be plenty of them around

@Magnolia832: Hopefully they won't go out of business. But they need to consider there prices. You can get better buys elsewhere.🤷🏻‍♀️

The only time I shop at Walgreens is if I just can't face one of the larger stores and need something *now*.

Many years ago, most pharmacies were charging a $4 fee to fill a prescription. Walgreens charged $9. Of course if you had insurance, you just didn't know. In a way, they were pricing themselves out of business. Granted, they have some excellent pharmacists, but their prices are also a little bit higher. Most of the time, we use HEB. It is more convenient, and if you make friends with the staff(yes, we are there that much) it really helps. One pharmacy I don't use if there is any possible way to avoid it, is CVS. Too many mistakes, wait time is unreasonable. At least at Walgreens and HEB there have been times when they looked at me or a sick child and told me to, "wait, we will fill this right now."

@susieq: Agree! If anyone should go outta business, let it be CVS. The cashiers are untrained and rude. That is just my experience. I belong to their rewards program. You pay $5 a month and you get $10 every month, plus points and cash benefits. I let my little have CVS bucks and generally she gets $21-$24 to go shopping. It's a fun day and she learns that if she doesn't have enough $$ she waits a week and then goes back to purchase the item.

@Magnolia832 : Walgreen has only 2 stores in Texas deemed to close
at this time. One in Lubbock, the other is Houston on Braeswood.

Walgreens on 518/Broadway is closest but the wait time was long. Emoticon
CVS was much better, possibly because cvs owns my Aetna insurance.
I'm tempted to shop tho always do the drive thru. plus I only go twice a year
for meds. 🩹

During one of the hurricane evacuations, we left one of my husband's meds at home. I went to a Walgreens, and explained what I had done. The pharmacist looked at our records, and gave me the meds. I tried to pay, she wouldn't take it. Another time, DH needed nitro. His dr was on vacation. I went to Walgreens, and once again the pharmacist(our regular) just gave me the med and told me she would talk to the dr when he got back. They have some excellent pharmacists.

@Magnolia832 :
I heard this on the news. 100 underperforming stores are closing. I have seen a lot of changes in the last few years at Walgreens so this is not a big surprise.
