Then why did the weapons ban work in 1994 to 2004

www.thetrace.org/201 9/08/what-the-data-s ays-asssault-weapons -bans/

From 1994 to 2004, the United States had a federal ban on new production of assault-style rifles. The law proved controversial, both for its perceived electoral consequences and disputed effects on crime. State-level assault weapons bans enacted in the years since have been undermined by noncompliant gun owners, easily surmounted design requirements, and legal and political calculations that allow existing military-inspired rifles to remain in circulation. But some data analyses do suggest that the lapsed federal law did accomplish its primary purpose: reducing the frequency and deadliness of gun rampages. Other research shows that a component of the law outlawing high-capacity ammunition magazines may have limited the use of those devices in shootings.

He found that deaths in such high-fatality mass shootings dropped by 25 percent under the ban. Massacre deaths involving assault weapons fell by 40 percent, fatalities involving both assault weapons and high-capacity magazines fell by 54 percent. After the ban lapsed, mass shootings and related deaths surged.

@Dorothy : Why should I compromise my rights as an American citizen to appease another?
I do not trust that the government, nor any other citizen here, to have my best interest at heart.
Humans are selfish creatures by nature, especially those in power. If they were giving, kind, nice average people like us they WOULDN'T be in power.
Why would you want to give them more power? We already work like slaves and make almost nothing. Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck and have little to no savings. Look at how much taxes we pay and how much of it is wasted on nonsense.
These guns are defense weapons.
If you look at the large numbers of people who kill with these weapons they are all on psychiatric drugs, or are criminals to begin with. Absent fathers, broken home ********. What we need is a societal fix. I'd say, stop pushing your kids to take mind altering drugs. How about people listen to them, engage with them, and put them in a hobby instead of doping them up so they can sit mindless on the couch. How about we stop glorifying criminals with giving these ******s record labels and blasting them on radio and tv. How about we go back to parents ACTUALLY RAISING THEIR KIDS instead letting daddy government do it for them through the school system or the daycare Mom at home and dad at work. If they don't have a dad, mom chose poor and those men need to be castrated. We don't need to give men a pass who don't raise their children. Same for them women, if they don't raise their kids, they shouldn't be having anymore. You're on your own with your kids. You had them, you pay for them, you take care of them. We need to stop encouraging this kind of mindset of coddling everybody and providing for everyone.
No law abiding citizen should have to go through this just because some idiots who popped out stupid kids and didn't raise them right.
Don't take my rights away just because these people exist. For every reason and more I should be able to uphold my constitional right because of it.

Shall not be infringed.

@DrewLundgren : I agree. but so many are so convinced that guns kill people, it's not the gun, it's a break down of society, and mental disorders, everyone wants to ban guns to stop the killings, it won't work, just like stopping sober drivers from driving, so drunk drivers won't kill them! It doesn't work that away, when I saw this post, I though it was a great article, it proved a lot! Actually more people are killed by drunk drivers and knives than people killed by guns! I don't want to live in America that bans guns, we need them to protect from the tyranny that may come our way at anytime!

@Pinkbandanas : Very well written, it sad how social media controls most all parenting these days, really sad! I have seen so many young adults addicted to their phones, they might as well have them sewn in their hands! It's a wonder more kids are kidnapped right off the play ground, because 90% of the time the parents face is so stuck in the phone and they never look up to watch their kids! I agree our rights shall not be infringed! I want to be able to protect my family from the tyranny that could come our way, sooner than we ever thought it would!

@Joyful3422 : It is true that more people are glued to their phones, but it is NOT true that many children are kidnapped off playgrounds.

www.pollyklaas.org/a bout/national-child- kidnapping.html

99.8% of the children who go missing do come home.

Nearly 90% of missing children have simply misunderstood directions or miscommunicated their plans, are lost, or have run away.
9% are kidnapped by a family member in a custody dispute.
3% are abducted by non-family members, usually during the commission of a crime such as robbery or sexual assault. The kidnapper is often someone the child knows.
Only about 100 children (a fraction of 1%) are kidnapped each year in the stereotypical stranger abductions you hear about in the news.
About half of these 100 children come home.

@Joyful3422 : Well you should not be surprised given the fact that most kidnappings are not stranger abductions. People are too scared nowadays by things that are not happening.
