@Stealth83 : @Mitsu2125 : @lnb0913 : Sadly, the only reasonable alternatives are TX Hwy 90, TX Hwy 225, and FM 1960. Taking traffic that normally travels I-10 over the San Jacinto River will cause nightmarish traffic on those routes as well. The impacts to the economy will not be insignificant. Many people who live east of the river work along the Houston Ship Channel. It leaves my head reeling as I think of the impacts of this shutdown. Commuters, long haul truckers, material delivery drivers, emergency vehicle drivers and even vacationers will all have tough decisions to make.

@DrewLundgren : It really is going to be a nightmare. We rarely use that route, but it is the one we use to visit relatives in San Antonio. I hope it gets cleared up sooner rather than later, but it looks awful.

@Dorothy : I don't think 🤔 that you will have many delays going west since the real problem is I 10 east toward Baytown, Beaumont etc that's where I10 crosses the san jacinto river.
