Target 'curbside'
I needed a couple of little things from Target yesterday, but of course, they were scattered all over the four corners of the store. So I put in a pick-up order, and they said it would be ready in 2 hours. I walked in, since they don't do curbside, and picked up my order, already paid for and no signature required. Ten minutes from start to finish.
I was figuring it out. I bought less than $20 worth of stuff, but got a $5 gift card thru a special deal. Last Xmas, Target was hiring for $16/hour and it took someone who knows that store at least half an hour, so $8 to the employee.
I seriously can't figure out how this business model is sustainable, but man it's great when you're in a hurry.

@NannyB : Wait until I tell you how I get some poor wage slave from Walmart to schlep 85 lbs of cat food/litter up to my second floor door for free!

@Blackbird: I love doing curbside. Just picked up a walmart order earlier. It's been years since I did my main grocery shopping at Walmart but they offer free curbside where heb charges I think either 2% or 3% extra per item for curbside. It adds up when your buying a few hundred in groceries. So now I just shop heb for the things I like to pick out myself like meats and fresh veggies.

@CjMullen3702: My daughter did curbside at Walmart yesterday. It was ok. The thing is they don't check expiration dates. She bought some Danishs for my grandson and they expire today . That is one of the reasons I do my own shopping.

@NannyB : It's great for canned goods and frozen, but for bakery, dairy and produce, I'd do my own shopping

@CPres :
I always do my own shopping on everything. Never have done curbside. I like to walk in the store and check everything out. It also gives me some exercise with walking especially in HEB.

I buy my own fresh food, but a few years ago I did delivery from HEB,and I was impressed. Even the produce was impeccable, dates were far out, it was great.
