Berger named Pearland's lone finalist for Superintendent position
During a special board meeting held on Tuesday, March 22, the Pearland Independent School District Board of Trustees named Larry Berger as the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent.
Berger, who currently serves as Pearland ISD’s Assistant Superintendent for Support Services, will begin his service as superintendent in Pearland ISD after board approval at the board meeting to be held on April 12.
“We are very excited to announce Larry Berger as Pearland ISD’s lone finalist for the superintendent position,†Sean Murphy, Pearland ISD board president, said. “Berger has been a tremendous asset for the district in his current and previous roles, and we feel very confident he will lead Pearland ISD in continuing to empower all learners to achieve their highest potential through world-class education.â€
A dedicated and servant professional, Berger has 23 years of combined experience in education, with 15 of those dedicated to Pearland ISD. Prior to being Pearland ISD’s Assistant Superintendent for Support Services, Berger was the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Facilities for four years and Pearland High School’s principal and assistant principal for nine years.
“During the interview process, I explained to the school board how proud I am to have served the dynamic and diverse people of Pearland ISD for the last 15 years. And now, more than ever, I look forward to the new opportunities and challenges ahead,†Berger said. “We will honor our traditions, embrace our realities and continue to educate for the future. Berger was selected as Pearland ISD’s lone finalist for the Superintendent position through an internal search held by the board of trustees between January and March. The search included input from employees and parents, which was received through online surveys.
