Brands vs dupes! What are some of your favorite lower cost brand dupes? In my house we love heb cheeto puffs better than cheeto brand puffs. But we prefer cheeto brand crunchy over heb crunchy.
Most HEB brands except for Hill Country Fare are ok. I would stay far away from Hill Country Fare products. My experience has been poor for the most part. www.heb.com/static-p age/Our-Family-of-Br ands
I guess I haven't been fair to HEB's store brands. I've tried some things I really didn't like and just wrote off all their store brand items thinking they will be just as bad. It's hard to experiment with brands, because you may hate it and end up throwing it all away and that is expensive with the price of groceries these days. I have come to trust Target's Archer Farmers and Good & Gather brands, Kroger's Private Selection, and Costco's Kirkland brand.
I like the canned tomato products at Aldi. I also buy canned beans, pinto for example there. For the last couple of weeks, they have had Carnation Sweetened, Condensed Milk for less than a $1.25 a can. Eagle Brand is over $2.00. I also like their tortilla chips, and they have some cookies, caramel, coconut, that you will believe came from the Girl Scouts. My husband prefers HEB chocolate chip cookies to the brand name.
I can't remember buying a store brand of any products that I didn't like... with the prices on almost anything these days I guess I attribute growing up at my grandmothers house and she never complained about the quality of a store brand ... she taught me how to cook and I honestly would never know how to cook these days without learning in her kitchen ... Bless her .....
