Condolences to the Baron familyIt is with incredible sadness that the SPCA of Brazoria County wants their community to know that they suffered a tragic loss of one of their own, their dear friend Julie Baron and her husband Ned, who always supported her mission. Words can’t describe the loss of what they are feeling in their hearts. At the shelter they all worked together daily and often share unbelievable animal hardships, but then also the joys of finding them loving homes. This passion for animal welfare bonds them closer everyday and makes this loss so hard to accept. Julie leaves an incredible gap for SPCA of Brazoria County and in this community, saving countless animals from all over Brazoria County and placing them in loving homes. Julie never stopped. Her work started early mornings at the shelter and continued through the evening. She rarely took a “real” day off - she didn’t have time as there were animals that needed saving. She worked closely with other rescues and had far-reaching relationships with other shelters across the US.Over the years Julie wore many hats at the shelter starting as a volunteer and rescue liaison to the shelter, to serving as treasurer on the Board of Directors, and later to serve as co-shelter director with Nikki Hardesty. She was also the transport manager and ensured many animals found loving homes in the Pacific Northwest and other states around the country, by building an incredible transport team to help them cope with the overcrowding issues. On her days off she would help at their thrift store when they were short of volunteers. So when they say she never stopped, she really never stopped.The SPCA of Brazoria County is keeping her family, but especially her daughter McKenzie, her son Tyler, and her mom Liz in their prayers. Please bear with them as they struggle to cope with this incredible loss and try to organize themselves.
