DWI Suspect Chases Pearland PD...
...Then
Pearland PD Chases DWI Suspect!
Sometimes, a policeman is so good that the bad guys (or girls) come to them.
According to a police report, late last night (4/18/17), just after 1AM, a Pearland Patrol Sergeant was traveling southbound on 288 when he noticed a white vehicle behind him...And it seemed to be following him. It would change lanes when he did and even exited the highway at CR 59 right after him.
At this point, not knowing what was going on, the officer tried to locate another unit via GPS for assistance, but there were none close by.
The Sergeant then headed towards the mall, and a more well-lit area....Just in case. Once there, he would be able to see if the person/people in the vehicle needed assistance of some sort or at least better assess the situation.
After notifying dispatch of the happenings so far, he pulled into the Macy's parking lot. With the vehicle still right behind him, he activated his lights and tried to swing around to get behind them. They would not let that happen and continued to "evade" his maneuvers as the two vehicles scurried across the parking lot.
Eventually, the Sergeant was able to get alongside of what he could now describe as a white Hyundai Sonata. The suspect vehicle then accelerated away from the officer and exited the mall parking lot. The Sergeant turned on his sirens and the chase was on.
The Sonata headed north up Business Center Dr, entered 288 headed south towards HWY 6, and then took 6 towards Alvin. This prompted a radio call from Pearland dispatch to Alvin PD. They were able to camp out ahead of the suspect vehicle with spike strips and wait for its arrival.
Once the vehicle's tires met the strips, it was all over but the crying.
Pearland PD arrested Lisa Sheneice Diggs (28, Houston) on suspicion of DWI and Fleeing From Police.
Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.
