Glenda Dawson in Pearland

This week the City of Pearland wants to celebrate Glenda Dawson!ðŸ‘©â€ðŸ« Not only did she change lives in the classroom, but she helped change the state through her public support for organ donations. Her passion led to the Donate Life Texas Registry! Thank you Glenda Dawson for inspiring and saving lives.

@Knk : Wow I had no idea she was an advocate of organ donation. I wonder how she came about being an advocate?

@Knk:I had her as a teacher in High School. And my daughter was in the first graduating Class of Dawson High School in 2010. This High School was the first to offer dual credits and my daughter graduated with a high school diploma and a license in Cosmetology. Mrs.Dawson was a mentor, advocate also a State Rep.â¤ï¸

@Knk : I did not have her as a teacher however, she was teaching at the high school when I was there. I did not know that she was a kidney transplant recipient and advocate for organ donation.

As a person with 4 family members in need of donations (one passed, one got a transplant, 2 more are waiting) I salute this woman for her service!

@Magnolia832 @Blackbird : I had never really thought about who she was or what she might have done, this is very interesting.

It is hard waiting. My husband was down to probably a few months left when he got his new liver 12 years ago. Even though he never did drugs or drank alcohol, it didn't keep him from getting liver cancer. Yes, we all signed up to be donors. It made such a huge difference in our lives.

My brother came up to the top of the donee list while my father was dying. Since he took it upon himself to be there every day, to keep my poor father company in that horrid nursing home (a whole nother story), he passed on the first 3 kidneys he was offered. Thank the gods, my father passed just before he was offered a 4th time, and he survived that long to get it.
