@damascus1986 .. Not is a recession ?? This is so wrong for you know who
to tell the American public that we are not in a recession... I wish that teleprompter
would quit working ... eating less does not help... stocking your pantry a bit more
will help when the prices go up again and again... and they will in November ... unless
we can stop him ( and those who advise him )

@damascus1986 : I'm with you. Essential amino acids are found in meat sources of protein. Smart cooking methods and portion control, of course. Side note: forget bug protein whatever that nonsense is about! 🤢🦗

@NJ99221: imo they have made things bad enough that a period of even higher inflation or deep recession/ depression is necessary mathematically. I have gotten used to eating less and have been storing food. Gotta try something.

@damascus1986 : as a former homestead farmer, I shudder at the thought. How warped is the thinking that algae or arthropods or lab grown cells are a viable source of protein? What have these "scientists" been smoking? I don't imagine it was Marlboro Lights ...

Beans and cornbread or brown rice form a complete amino acid group and can be subbed for meat protein. Quinoa is also a complete protein. Yes, it is a little expensive, so buy a big bag now. I sprinkle it on salads and add it to soups. Don't forget, we can grow things here, even during winter. Carrots, onions, broccoli and cabbage for example.

If you can't grow, or don't can food, dehydrate. Many frozen vegetables can be dehydrated to take up much less space. 3 small bags of corn or soup mix will fit in a pint jar when dried. Dry one, measure to see how much it makes, then you can store larger quantities in a jar and just measure out what you need. If you see something on sale, buy it then, don't wait. The price is not going to come down. If you have a bread machine, this is the time to start using it, but make sure you have a good supply of yeast and flour to work with. Yeast, flour, salt, sugar, and water are all you need to make bread. I store flour in the fridge, or vacuum bags. pasta will keep easily for a year, put it in a jar or seal it in a jar. I know most of you know, meat in smaller amounts, concentrate on vegetables.

I know sometimes I sound like a broken record, but this is how to survive, even as prices go up.

@DNAdiva : Have you seen/used the new electric canners? They only do 4 quarts or 5 pints at a time, but they are so much easier to use. No babysitting the canner. Set it, and walk away. I had one, and yesterday Amazon had them on sale for $100, so my husband told me to order another one. You can also cook in them. Mine are Nesco, and there were times this summer they were going for close to $500. Of course I will keep my 40 year old one, I could even use it over a fire if I had to.

Image didn't come through but check on Amazon for the Carey DPC-9ss 9.5qt Smart Electric Pressure Canner.

You can use it for pressure canning, water bath, or just as a pressure cooker.
