I'm going to the Stella Roberts recycle center this afternoon, a 2:00pm appt.

@Txtoast : oh yes! Also, City of Pearland no longer runs/oend the recycle center. Keep Pearland Beautiful a non profit now owns and operates it. Service is by appt only and will remain this was till January and they will reaccess at time

@Txtoast : they will take tree limb debris, however it must be less than 4 feet and bundled and tied and less than 40 pounds. If you have a huge amount (say a full tree) then you need to call Frontier and they will estimate a cost to haul away

@CPres : Thanks, that's good to know! Actually the appt. times may work out better, less time sitting in a long line.
When booking an appt. on-line, it will ask 'what items' are you bringing, and if 1 or more attendants are needed.
And each car is allowed up to 15 minutes - 4 appts available in a one hour period. In the past I have sat in line for 25 minutes or longer, due to waiting behind a car with multiple paints cans, etc.
Note: the car line is one-lane now, used to be 2 lanes, so that's how you get stuck waiting....

@Txtoast : I was impressed with this recycle center. When I moved here several years ago I had a broken TV and there were paint and polymer and paint thinner cans left in the garage and I drove over to the center. They were organized and fast. I was the only one there that morning so no wait. I will have to make an appointment again as I have a printer and a few paint cans to get rid of. So glad we have this center in Pearland. I also have two huge cardboard boxes that will not fit in curbside cart, so I'll be bringing that over there too.
Reuse, repurpose, recycle.....

@Txtoast : Questions for the recycle center: I have always wondered about the can and jar recycling. Like does a peanut butter jar that is not cleaned out very well still get recycled. And on cans (dog food, vegetable, soup etc) do they need to have the paper label separated from the can?

I've always washed and removed labels, and it's a lot of work!
Also candles in glass jars - I've asked about those - they said if there's 'not too much wax' it's ok.

@GoOilers2019 : we learned at our meeting that labels do not need to be removed from cans or bottles, but need to be clean and dry when put in recycle cart.

@CPres : Oh, I thought so, otherwise the food would rot, making it garbage.

@Txtoast : Oh! Thanks, but I have another one: on plastic bottles (water, gatorade etc.) do the caps need to be separated from the bottles? I saw a guy on the news once who worked at a recycle center and said he spent a big part of his day just separating caps from bottles because they were two different types of plastic. He did add that all recycle centers are different and we should ask what our local policy was.

I was in and out in less than 5 minutes!
Everyone working there was super friendly! Even though they said some people
have lashed out at them over the appt scheduling process.
