I'm actually wondering if we are finally heading into deflation the gf picked this up at HEB today. while it maybe nice i am a scared as well if it truly is deflation( which should be coming based on the feds actions)

During inflation you see your purchasing power being slowly whittled away. During deflation your money gains purchasing power but unemployment spikes, people lose homes cars ect.

We are hoping the federal reserve can land the economy softly but we have all seen how well they managed to print the right amount of money and not cause inflation( sarcasm)

@Patty18 : Your bill went down. same as the price of meat i posted its cheap by all standards that i've seen lately.
what i'm trying to say is the concern is that prices get cheaper but it leads to a deflationary spiral.

before 2008 inflation had run a bit I believe slightly over 5% after 2008 people were more worried about keeping their jobs and homes. While its nice to see lower prices I have caution many people were happy to receive stimulus but look at the cost .

@damascus1986 : Don't worry, my electric bill didn't go down. Neither did gas or water. The meat your wife bought is a lost leader. The store will lose money selling it just to get people in to buy more stuff.

@susieq : IMO you should 1000% worry because of the yield curve its explained in the link i posted . The store losing money is they type of behavior that leads to the job cuts . We are seeing them start in tech sectors but thats starting to move beyond that. The feds rate hikes will take some more months to fully move through the economy . The type of stuff i follow is the broad trend none of our personal situations explain whats happening in the economy for 340 million Americans ( or 7.5 billion people) . the fed does control the monetary system for all of these people though.

There will likely be a crash and there will be a narrative that will go with it but the financials predicted it months before just like covid.

I wish I knew how to get a $38 electric bill! I really dread seeing summer come, because it will be pretty high. I am just thankful that we have the ability to pay it, and also that we are able to stay warm in winter and cool in summer.

My bill was also $40 or so, but the month before it was $85. It just depends on your home (energy efficient new home) and temperature you set. I'm not going to get too excited about anything at the moment things change fast!
