National Detroit Style Pizza Day!
Did someone say pizza? Of course we did! Celebrate the birthplace of the American Automobile and Motown. This delicious food holiday recognizes the square-cut pizza style

Authentic Detroit-Style Pizzas layer the toppings backward, meaning they lay the gourmet pepperoni directly on the hand-stretched dough. Next comes a generous layer of Wisconsin Brick Cheese, spread all the way to the edges of the pan. The resulting caramelized cheese creates an incredibly crisp crust. Finally, racing stripes of tomato sauce finish the top. Emoticon

@Txtoast Not my style of pizza ... that thick crust is too much ..
I enjoy thin crust pizza ... and i eat pizza for the toppings and
not the crust ,,,,,

Jet's Pizza has a wonderful Detroit Style Pizza. Also just found a new Pizza place that has it and other types - Via 313 on 518 - I was shocked at how good the pizza was. Plus you can get 2 slices of Pizza and a salad for $12.99. I love that I don't have to buy a whole pizza.

I don't believe Center Court Pizza offers a Detroit-style option; as far as I know, they only serve their standard crust style.

My husband makes it. It takes 3 hours for the crust, the rest is easy. He saw it on a cooking show, and had to try it. I think it is his favorite kind now.

Right now, I' m just up for frozen, but it was well doctored and quite good. Extra stuff, sauce, cheese. It's Walmart's Motor City Pizza, in a black box.
