Maybe not. The very premise of killing something to eat it is cruel. I still maintain that showing care, and teaching an animal to love you, then killing it takes cruelty to a whole new level. Am I vegan? Pretty much. Dinner tonight was a baked potato and broccoli.

@1Gloria : I'm vegetarian. I'm not vegan. Why do you ask?

@susieq : You are projecting human emotions onto an animal. A pet is not the same as an animal that is raised for food. When the lion kills a gazelle for food is it cruel? I am a meat eater and I do wish the meat industry in the US was more humane, but I guess then we couldn't get steaks at the grocery store for $8.99 a pound. Factory farming really is horrible!!!

@PearlandDotCom : But the movie is inspiring and the ending was actually positive. So I would recommend seeing this movie!

@susieq : I completely understand that we are breaking the trust of these beloved souls. They are probably crushed once they face the reality and are full of anxiety and fear!

@MalluGuy : No, I am not. I am saying that animals do have the capacity to love, to form bonds with humans, and to fear. I do not believe that all animals have that bond, but the ones that are raised by hand do have one. If you don't believe they feel fear, go to a stock yard holding pen and observe them for a few hours.

While I am on my yearly rodeo rant, let's talk horses. I have no problem with horses, other than being very allergic to them. I DO have a problem with some owners and riders. I am not saying this is all riders, but there are a few...…. I am talking about the once a year cowboy wannabes. You know them too, throw a horse out in the field, check on it when you remember, then drag it out for rodeo. I firmly believe horses need to be conditioned before the trail ride, not during. Once again, I am not saying it is all people, but there are some I hope get the horrible saddle sores the richly deserve.

@susieq : There is a special place in HELL for people that abuse animals.
