Pearland to begin work on police training center in September.
Construction is anticipated to begin on the city of Pearland's new police training center in mid-September. The center will be located at the old Fire Station No. 4 building at 2555 Cullen Blvd., Pearland.

Work on repurposing the building is expected to begin Sept. 15, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The project is expected to last until Sept. 30, 2023.

The training center will include a 40-person training room, a break room area, a fitness area that will be shared with the new Fire Station No. 4 and a work station office area, according to the city's webpage on the facility.

The cost of the work is estimated at $3.8 million, according to the TDLR. 281-652-1600. bit.ly/3cEJqoM

Background:
The Police Training Center has been proposed to support Pearland PD's sponsorship of police academy training and increase the number of in-house continuous improvement courses provided. Pearland Police Department has become a hub in northern Brazoria County for advanced training providing 18,000 hours of training to personnel from over 90 agencies. The planned facility is a proposed repurposing of the current Fire Station 4.

The proposed renovations include a 40-person training room, break room area, fitness area (to be shared with future Fire Station 4) a workstation office area and associated restroom and shower facilities. Renovating the facility will also open additional EOC space within the Public Safety Building providing support area for additional activities required during EOC activations, add additional showering capacity for those activations and increased emergency bedding space available for City Emergency Operations staff.Loading Image...
