New Pearland Fire Station
The City of Pearland has announced that a new fire station is in the works. The new facility, which will replace its 48-year-old predecessor (Fire Station No. 1), will be located at the northeast corner of Old Alvin and McHard Road.
Construction of the $4.1 million 9,500 sq. ft. facility is expected to begin in January 2018. Once complete, the station will house one 4-person Engine Crew and one 2-person EMS ambulance crew. The station will include dorm rooms, restrooms with showers, a kitchen and dining area, dayroom, watch office, Lieutenant’s office, exercise room and a medical treatment room. The equipment area will consist of standard emergency vehicle bays, a bunker gear storage area and medical supply storage.
This larger station will be on par with the size required for operations of a full-time fire service, with an emphasis on firefighter health, separating the dirty duty and clean living spaces, and providing decontamination showers.
