A 28-year-old man from Pearland is currently being held in the
Brazoria County Jail on a $150,000 bond for allegedly driving impaired and causing a crash that took the life of a local mother.
According to reports from the Pearland Police Department, on the evening of June 27, at around 8 PM, a call came in to 9-1-1 about a two-vehicle wreck that had just occurred near the intersection of Bailey and Harkey.
An initial investigation revealed that a white Ford pickup truck had been involved in a collision with a black Chevy passenger car.
The driver of the Chevy car, a 33-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were also two children in the vehicle. They were taken to a local hospital with several injuries, but were thankfully expected to survive.
The driver of the Ford pickup suffered some minor injuries. He was transported to the hospital and released a short time later.
Investigators believed the male driving the Ford, identified as Samuel Decker (28, Pearland), was Driving While Intoxicated. After continuing their investigation, they contacted the
Brazoria County DA and secured an arrest warrant for the suspect. Decker was taken into custody and is currently still in the County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
The investigation is still ongoing.
