Don't miss the 36th annual Hometown Christmas Parade this weekend in Pearland.

Businesses, non-profit organizations, families, individuals and civic groups will be entertaining the crowd with their beautifully-decorated floats.

Saturday, December 2, at 6 PM

- FREE parking in shopping centers along parade route.
- For the health and safety of guests attending the parade, please do not bring your pets (service dogs in harnesses are permitted).
- Food and drinks are allowed.
- Smoking and alcohol are prohibited.

And BONUS...The Hometown Christmas Parade Grand Marshal will be none other than Jim McIngvale, a.k.a "Mattress Mack", Houston area icon and owner of Gallery Furniture.

NEW KROGER'S: has anyone heard anything about the supposedly new Kroger's being built (or not) on Pearland Parkway & Barry Rose? Kroger's had planned to build another new store in Baytown and had already prepared a site like the site they built here. A close friend who lives in Baytown told me on Sunday that they'd received confirmation from a reliable Kroger source that the plans for that new store had been scrubbed altogether.

Kroger is being really quiet about what's going on. I suspect they bit off more than they could chew with all the new stores they were putting up at once. Several of their projects in the greater Houston area were either delayed by months/years or scrapped altogether. I check in with them every month or so to see if anything has changed, but nothing yet. I'll check again this week and update y'all if they give out anymore info.
