Starting Friday, May 26, Independence Park will be substantially closed in preparation for the Independence Park Phase 1 Improvement Project.
The project includes a reorientation of the park entrance, landscaping, relocation and replacement of the existing playground, improvements to the existing pavilion, the construction of additional parking and the construction of an amphitheater for special events.
Construction for this project is expected to conclude in September 2018.
During the Park’s closure, Pearland residents will still have access through the Liberty Drive access point, with a road block at the park bridge, so that the trails can still be utilized by residents. The current dog park will remain open through a temporary entrance off of Pearland parkway. The rest of the park will be closed to the public. The closure includes the basketball court pavilion and the Independence Park pool.
