Dad said that after I was born, the only way I would stop crying and go to sleep was if he took me for a ride in the car… and to this day I do enjoy a good road trip!

@NannyB Oh yes... going for rides just to be doing or seeing something
different was a weekend event .. I remember going down a dirt road and a mother skunk was taking a baby across the road so dad stopped the car while they crossed to prevent any odors !!!!

@NannyB :
Sunday afternoons. While we lived in the Chattanooga area, it wasn't unusual for us to go to my dad's cousin's house for Sunday dinner. He lived in Griffin, GA. so it was quite a drive. Between traffic and gas prices, this isn't something we do. We can also find things to do around the house. I also think it was easier and more enjoyable when you didn't have to worry about getting tied up in traffic.

@NannyB : My parents retirement dream was to drive around the USA, unfortunately that never happened.
My father loved driving and was a local 18 wheel driver

Yep! My Dad used to take me and my sister for drives just cause. Sometimes in the Pinto and sometimes in the '57 Chevy.
