THINK ABOUT THIS: If 200 million Americans each refuse to buy just $20 of Chinese goods, that's a four billion dollar ($4,000,000,000) trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!!
Just for the record, a lot of numbers in this article are just wrong.
The $4 billion quoted above is almost nothing when it comes to the trade deficit.
According to the US government (
ustr.gov/countries-r egions/china-mongoli a-taiwan/peoples-rep ublic-china ) the US-China trade deficit is $386 billion, which means the $4 billion quoted above is only a 1% change in the deficit
...almost nothing.
The real numbers:
Americans would have to buy $1,181 per man, woman and child less from China every year to balance out the trade deficit. For a family of four, that means buying $394 per month less from China than you are now, household wide.
